It's fall! Apples are aplenty and the smell of them baking in your kitchen is the perfect scent for this season. This was often an after-school snack in our home when I was a child, and now I get to spoil my kids with it. Enjoy this delicious, warm, fruit-filled dessert all autumn!! Ingredients: 7 tart apples, peeled, cored, and sliced 4 teaspoons lemon juice 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1 cup oats 1/2 cup butter (room temperature)
Directions: Preheat oven to 375.
In a mixing bowl, combine apples, lemon juice, and vanilla. Toss to combine. Layer sliced apples in a 9 x 12-inch pan. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and oatmeal in a bowl. Cut in the butter. Sprinkle sugar mixture over apples. Bake 45 minutes or until topping looks crunchy and apples are tender. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
Living in small town Oklahoma, I am married to the sweetest man you will ever meet. We have five young children, so I would now consider myself a professional juggler. I'm a wannabe crafter, cook, baker, and gardener. Some might call me crunchy. I'm okay with it.
